What would have been a fun snow day turned into an ordeal for the thousands of us who lost power in Sunday night’s snowstorm. It’s just a reminder how tied we have become to all our “power” tools – from refrigerators, heat pumps and water heaters to computers, tv and cable.

Twenty of 23 Virginia community colleges were closed Monday – and two of the remaining three operated on a delayed schedule. Half-dozen are closed again today, including those in the Richmond metropolitan region, with another half-dozen or so operating on a delayed schedule.

Here’s hoping the remaining Virginians without power receive it today!
