My name is LaCleder J. Odom, and I am an aspiring high school math teacher. In June 2008, I graduated from Lakeland High School in Suffolk, Virginia with a cumulative grade point average of 3.66. Upon completion of my associate’s degree, I plan to transfer to a 4-year institution. In the fall of 2010, I plan to attend Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU) in Richmond, Virginia. I will be majoring in mathematics with a concentration in secondary education.

Paul D. Camp students with Delegate William Barlow
On January 28, I had the privilege to visit the State Library, General Assembly, and the Senate Gallery in Richmond. I was able to personally meet and speak with Delegate Barlow and Senator Lucas. I advocated for more federal funds for scholarships and/or grants while attending a Virginia Community College.
Moreover, I campaigned for more federal funds to be poured into the Two-Year College Transfer Grant Program. I was honored to advocate for my collegiate peers. I would like to thank Paul D. Camp and Virginia’s Community Colleges for giving me this opportunity. PDCCC has given me more than just a scholastic education. My experiences at PDCCC have helped me become a better student and a better person.
